WHO WHAT WHEN WHERE WHY HOW

In this highly physical and expressive group work, I explore gestural and culturally associated movements that have become a part of a common black American aesthetic landscape. Thinking about physicality and its attachment to certain bodies under differing conditions, this work questions the ways we see one another and how our perception changes depending upon who is doing what. I built this work collaboratively with the dancers and saw it as part of my process towards the professional production Virago-Man Dem.
